VETERAN is a historic Chesapeake Bay Buyboat, built in 1914 and recently converted for cruising. VETERAN is spending most of her time doing educational cruises, entertaining family and friends and getting reacquainted with the people and waters of the Chesapeake Bay.

KAPETAN was launched May 29th, 2016 off the beach she was designed to break through waves to the sacred fishing grounds of Pacific City, Oregon. Wood used in construction was all made with Sapelle.

Deben 4¾-Tonner

Our Deben Class designs are inspired by the original Deben 4-tonner, which my father commissioned from W. M. Blake in 1936 and the Deben 6-tonner, designed by my father in 1950. At least 35 of the 4-tonners and 3 of the 6-tonners were built between 1937 and 1960.

ROBUSTUS

Built of cold-molded cedar on laminated locust frames by David, Marie and Nathan at Skol ar Mor. ROBUSTUS is a reproduction of Francois Vivier’s MORBIC 8′. She was ordered by Guillaume Valente on the island of Groix off the Southern coast of Brittany in France.

Last year, the physics class at the International Academy in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, built cardboard boats as a class project. Each group of four students had to design a boat that could be built from 4′ x 8′ sheets of eighth-inch-thick corrugated cardboard.
