Build a Scattery Island Currach

Tuition: $1,000 including lodging, instruction and building materials. Financial aid available.

The Scholarshipwrights of Nobleboro will host a unique two-week course building two Scattery Island currachs; skin on frame fishing boats from the Shannon River Estuary in County Clare, taught by one of Ireland’s expert currach builders. The finished boats will be raffled off to two lucky course participants at the end of the course.

The course will be held in a former sawmill and boat building school in Nobleboro, Maine on Damariscotta Lake with a fully equipped workshop and comfortable accommodations. Camping is also an option.
