FRIDA

Mike Yates of Bainbridge Island, Washington designed & built this recreational/open-water shell. Loosely based on Graeme King’s immortal Kingfisher, it is strip-built with 1/8″ Western Red Cedar & Alaskan Yellow Cedar, covered with 2-oz fiberglass. It is a soft-chined, V hull with a hard deck, monocoque construction, 23′-0″ X 17″ & with a 16″ waterline. 45 lbs. Carl Douglas (UK) custom-built the riggers, sliding seat & foot-stretchers. Roughly 1500 hours from the first sketches to final varnish. Rows like dream.
