Herreshoff/Gardner 17′ Rowboat

Blending John Gardner’s second version of the L. F. Herreshoff 17′ pulling boat with John Brooks’ glued-lapstrake construction, Tony Lush started building in November of 2021 in the “Greenhouse Boatyard.”

The boat emerged in June, 2024 and was splashed in Jamestown, RI. She is proving to be a easy rowing boat. Built of epoxied Okoume plywood planking and decks, mahogany stems and inwale spacers, and a pine bottom (garboards and bottom glassed inside and out). Alaskan yellow cedar was used for rails, seat risers, and thwarts.
