Micro Bootlegger Sport Kayak

Built from guillemot kayak plans during winter of 2025. Full length 1/4 x 3/4 mahogany bead and cove strips. In order to rip the 16' mahogany boards inside my shop, I cut a "mail slot" in the door opposite the table saw. I was able to put the excess length of the board thru the slot, giving me room to process the material without working outside in the winter. Lighter accents are white pine, and bow and stern are cherry from a tree my brother cut down. Honestly!  As a former remodeling contractor, I my tool kit includes a lazer which insured that the strongback for the station forms was exactly straight. The biggest challenge was mating hull and top deck after the first layer of fiberglas and epoxy. I make it a point not to keep track of hours on projects like this, but it came to 5 months of part time work. For a fun puzzle, decode the inlay message on aft deck!
