THELMA

THELMA is an 11’4” cedar strip canoe with Douglas Fir gunwales and Ash stems. She is the first boat built by cousins Tristan and Tom and was made under a tarpaulin shelter at the end of their garden in Southampton, England. For most of the build Tristan was living about 80 miles away in London, which meant progress was slow until he moved back to Southampton to pursue a career in sailing.

THELMA (named in memory of the cousins’ late great-grandmother) was finally launched on 27th July 2025 at Ashlett Creek, Fawley, with around 40 friends and family gathering to cheer her on.
