THETIS

This sloop is an Ebihen 16. I built it using plans from French naval architect Francois Vivier and a kit from Hewes & Co., Blue Hill ME. The kit was comprised of CNC-cut Okume plywood. It has a steel centerboard built by Nautilus Marine of Ellsworth ME, sails cut by Douglas Fowler of Ithaca NY, spars built by Jim Elk of Bar Harbor ME, a bronze traveler built by Doak’s Machine Shop, and many pieces of mahogany cut by Hewes & Co. It took three summers to build. It required turning over twice during construction, using the strength of about 10 neighbors.
