Castine Yacht Club Celebrates Significant Maine Builds and Restorations

Please join us for the 21st annual Castine Classic Yacht Celebration, sponsored by the Castine Yacht Club, which this year will honor Significant Maine Builds and Restorations.

On July 29th from noon to 4 p.m. noted examples will be on exhibition at the Castine town dock. The yachts will include, among others, the modern replica of Ernest Hemingway’s yacht PILAR under construction at Brooklin Boat Yard; the classic Newbert & Wallace lobster yacht VIM, restored by Artisan Boatworks; and, if available, the Hood 57 express cruiser being built by Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding.

From 4 to 6 p.m., a symposium at Maine Maritime Academy’s Delano Auditorium will feature representatives of these yachts on exhibition and the builders: Eric Stockinger, project manager of Brooklin Boat Yard; Alec Brainerd of Artisan Boatworks; and Drew Lyman of Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding. Todd French of French & Webb will discuss the epoch three-year restoration of the presidential yacht SEQUOIA.
