August Community Expedition

Start by camping on Greens Island and getting familiar with our Bantry Bay gigs, copies of 18th-century French Admiral's gigs. Then, as weather allows, we will venture to camp on other islands in Penobscot Bay in the Vinalhaven/Isle Au Haut regions.

We will bring all of our food, water, and camping equipment with us as we explore new islands. We will circle back to Greens Island at the end of the trip. You will take the Ferry from Rockland to Vinalhaven and take short power boat ride to get to Greens Island and back at the beginning and end of the trip.

Learn navigation, anchorage assessment, passage planning, wind awareness, tides and currents, among other valuable seamanship skills throughout the journey. Ages 15 - 70+ and all experience levels.
