De Wind is Op! Symposium

In the major exhibition “De Wind is Op! Climate, Culture and Innovation in Dutch Maritime Painting,” the New Bedford Whaling Museum explores its extraordinary collections of Golden Age Dutch and Flemish paintings through a fresh lens. These treasures are interpreted around the themes of wind, climate and sea as the drivers behind a uniquely Dutch national identity represented in maritime works of art of this period.

To explore and discuss the exhibition and related themes in greater depth, the Whaling Museum has invited experts in the field to participate in the De Wind is Op! Symposium on Oct. 19th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. See the detailed symposium schedule here. Advance registration is strongly recommended. Tickets available here.
