Icebreaker: Northeast Regional Youth Open-Water Rowing Championships

Come be inspired! Watch and cheer as the best youth open-water rowers in New England compete for the coveted “Key to the Harbor.” This year’s crews cover every skill level from novice to varsity competing over a full day of non-stop, round-robin style racing. Hosted once again at our Boston Rowing Center on Fort Point Channel, the day offers unequaled opportunities to watch more than 250 young people giving everything they’ve got during skills-challenge heats, culminating in a Novice Distance Challenge and the traditional Nautical Mile events.

The Icebreaker continues to grow, with teams descending on Boston from New York City, New Haven, Avery Point, Boston Harbor, Cape Cod, Plymouth, Westport, Lake Champlain, and Maine’s mid-coast—Rockland, North Haven, and Vinalhaven. The waterfront will come alive as 30 traditional, kid-built, wooden gigs take to the harbor in a day of inspirational athletics and sportsmanship.

This event is by invitation only, pre-registration is required.
