Lecture: Wooden Work Boats of the Atlantic

On the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, in deserted waterfront lots and open patches of beach, unique watercraft are growing, one piece of wood at a time.

Over the course of three trips around the Atlantic trade loop, speaker Pat DiLalla has been been drawn to these marvels of human ingenuity. The forms alone are beautiful in their mimicry of ocean creatures, but the pure utility of these boats is what he really loves. The styles vary depending on the job they are being built for, but there are many design features that tie them together. We’ll take a quick tour around the pond to check out some of the coolest wooden work boats of the Atlantic.

This lecture is free and open to the public, starts at 7 p.m., with a suggested donation of $10.
