Winter Lecture: The Happiest of All Showboat Stories

Dr. Patricia Samford, director of the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum, will talk about the history of showboats in the U.S. with a focus on the James Adams Floating Theater, its origins, operations, and eventual demise.  

The 2020 lecture series will be held on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. from January 9 to February 27. You will be challenged to question and to learn by the engaging speakers on eight diverse topics including maritime history, local history, science, and maritime art. Admission is $10 per person for non-members and free for museum members.
