This class will teach the marlinspike seamanship art of making a Nautical Ladder Mat. The ropework mat you’ll learn to make is sometimes referred to as a Napoleon Mat or Block Mat. They can be used for a boat’s companionway ladder steps, as an entry mat at the front door of your house, or even for a wall decoration. You’ll learn how the mat is constructed from beginning to end, and how building a jig will assist in speeding up the mat making process. Participants will take their mats home with them. Sunday, January 22 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Material fee may vary depending upon the size of your mat. $25 for members, $35 for non-members. Call (253) 857-9344 or email email@example.com to register, or visit www.gigharborboatshop.org for more information. Register by January 19. An additional session will be offered in March.
