Springtime, a historic boating village, a great array of exhibitors, and visitors from ten states all make for a great Oriental In-Water Boat Show. Oriental’s annual In-water Boat Show has grown exponentially since its beginnings in 2009.
The Wooden Boat Exhibition returns for 2017 as part of the three-day Oriental Boat Show. The exhibition includes new-built and restored wooden boats. Wooden boats invited to attend include classic runabouts, sailboats, rowboats, canoes and kayaks. Entries will be restricted to 24 feet in total length, including the trailer and boat. Voting by patrons and exhibitors will take place on the first and second day of the show with category prizes to be awarded. The show ends Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
Also part of the show is a wooden boat-building demonstration, with a 14′ sailing skiff constructed right at the three day show and awarded to a raffle winner on Sunday afternoon. The number of patrons attending the boat show has averaged over 1,700 in recent years and is increasing incrementally each year. The addition of the Wooden Boat Exhibition has been warmly greeted by show attendees.
The Oriental In-Water Boat Show, Nautical Flea Market & Wooden Boat Exhibition is produced by the Oriental Rotary Club and is the principal fund-raiser for our annual scholarships and other charitable works.
