ROBIN G

HMC #1397 was built in 1937 for O.G. Ricketson who raced the boat at the New Bedford YC, Padanaram, MA, until WWII —she was called PLABEN with the sail number 109. O.G. Ricketson, Jr.’s sister, Lucy Ricketson Ferguson also raced this boat along with other family H 12’s. In 1945, #1397 was sold to Mrs. John Forbes Perkins (Mary Coolidge) and moved to the Maine Coast. The boat picked up the name DOVEKIE and the Perkins family sold the boat in 2014 to Block & Becket Shipwrights, Bristol, RI; who made major repairs to #1397 including 17 ribs, 3 forward floors, and all new bulkheads, decks, and combings. The bulkheads and decks were replaced with solid cedar rather than plywood, and the decks covered in the traditional fashion with painted canvas. The gaff rig spars are original as are most of the stainless steel blocks. The boat was sold to Jan Van Sickle in 2020, renamed ROBIN G, and relocated to Inverness, CA.
