SMAUG

SMAUG is an original design loosely based on the 15' Rundgatting/Snipa, a Swedish inshore fishing boat, built by Herman Persson in 1940. The lines were taken off by Bertil Andersson.
Unlike the original, which used rocks for ballast, SMAUG incorporates a lead keel and centerboard. The planking is resawn #2 pine cut to 3/8". The strake shapes were obtained by lining off each individual plank and then adjusting the shape until it was pleasing to the eye.
There is a complete history of the building process at http://nordicboats1.blogspot.com/ The blog is ongoing and will be updated as the boat undergoes sea trials.
