NOOTKA was built at Meares Island, Clayoquot Sound, B.C., in 1957 by Barney Williams, a shipwright and fisherman of the Nuu-chah-nulth Nation. As AVE MARIA, she served the Christie (Kakawis) Indian Residential School for almost 30 years.
Built starting in 2008, launched June 21, 2012 at Latimer’s Landing near Shelton, WA.
