The Sailors’ Series is an annual, legacy lecture series of the New Bedford Whaling Museum that presents a wide variety of experiences and adventures by individuals with lifelong commitments to sailing, boats, and the sea.

Onne van der Wal is one of the most prolific and talented marine photographers in the world of sailing. Throughout his adventures, he has been to Greenland twice, the first time in August 2018 to the Disko bay area of Western Greenland on a private 90' sailboat as expedition photographer and crew member. His second trip was in August 2019 on a 65' ketch, which he chartered to take seven photographers to explore Eastern Greenland in the Similak Fjord /Kulusuk area.

Besides showing his beautiful images of Greenland, Onne gets into the local customs, talks about the locals, and tells his tales in an interesting and light-hearted manner.

6 p.m. reception; 6:30 p.m. presentation. Museum members $15; non-members $25. Tickets are available online or by calling 508-997-0046 x100.
