The design of the boat comes by request of a customer who already owns a Charles W. Wittholz’s catboat and wanted to have a beautiful tender for his yacht.
A stately 10′ rowing/sailing tender originally designed for my own first time build which is currently underway. I wanted an easy to construct boat, yet still retain the techniques and appearance of traditional lapstrake planking.
Athey is a 15' open water recreational rower for one or two based on a lines sketch by N. G. Herreshoff. Built from 4, 6 and 9mm glued lapstrake plywood, she weighs just 65 pounds and is cartopped.

The Great Alaskan is a very versatile inshore/offshore powerboat with a seaworthy semi-dory style hull. These fiberglass/wood stitch-n-tape boat plans give the builder the freedom to adapt the cuddy, pilothouse, and cockpit layout to his preference.
This design was inspired by Ross Lillistone’s “Water Rat”. The bow transom was replaced by a pointed stem. Also the internal volume and from there the displacement of the boat were increased by about 20%. Changes were made to the seating arrangement as well.
