ATNA

I helped my friend Glenn Strombo build this Adirondack Guide Boat to the plans found in “Building an Adirondack Guide Boat” by Michael J. Olivette and John D Michne. We shortened the length by 16 inches to utilize more readily available 16 foot cedar planking stock. Ribs are laminated Douglas fir as well as rub rails. Seats are pine. The boat is named ATNA. The River Atna flows past the farm of Glenn’s ancestors in Norway. On launching day, Glenn’s wife presented us with a bottle of water from the River Atna, that was shipped over from Norway by Glenn’s cousin. Glenn plans to cruise local lakes and rivers near his home.
