Puddle Boat

Built from just a single sheet of plywood, this Puddle Boat designed by William Garden got plenty of attention from Denney Freeston's grandchildren this summer. Denney is a WoodenBoat School alumnus and has built several other boats including a Snipe sailboat and two Chesapeake Light Craft boats: a kayak and a stand-up paddleboard. He also restored a Chris-Craft Riviera. but he says his grandchildren like this one the best. They use the boat on High Rock Lake, which is near his North Carolina Home.

Denney is also currently building a Karl Stambaugh Redwing 18. He hopes to complete it by the spring of 2019, and then take it down the Tennessee River with his son and grandson. They hope to travel from Paducah, Kentucky to the Gulf of Mexico, a distance of over 650 miles.
