Petrel Kayak
Jeff Parker recently launched this cypress and mahogany Petrel Kayak in Lake Bluff, Illinois. The 53 lb Petrel Kayak is designed by Nick Schade, who runs Guilllemot Kayaks, www.guillemot-kayaks.com.
Kaholo Stand-Up Paddleboard
Allen Kay and his sons (Colin on left, Ian on right) finished a 14′ Kaholo just in time for a short paddle in Maryland before hauling it to Lake Megunticook in Maine for two weeks to put it through its paces. “They love it,” Allen says.
Petrel Play Kayak
The boat is stitch and glue construction from a kit produced by Chesapeake Light Craft. The red pieces were stained prior to construction in order to highlight the “artistic” puzzle joints that designer Nick Schade uses. The build took 59 work days/134.5 hours spread over a five month period.
GRIETJE
Joli Boat Philip Thiel GRIETJE launched in The Netherlands at 4th of April 2020. Recently received propulsion and steering system. Now on her first holiday.
KILLING CANOE AND GREELEY KAYAK
Doug Puckering launched two boats in May of 2004: a Steve Killing-designed 17' canoe and a Joe Greeley-designed 16'10' kayak. The canoe has a beam of 33-1/3" and weighs 50 pounds. Doug plans to use it in canoe segment of the Ski-to-Sea race on the Nooksack River.
Manasek
Manasek was traditional construction - in old times used by Scouts in Czech republic. It was easy to build — just from three wide boards. It was paddled by double blade paddle.
ONE COAT BRAMBLE
Bob Bramble wanted to design a boat that would hold his one-man trailer and was able to launch 27'4" ONE COAT BRAMBLE in July of 2002 at Aqualand Marina in Maryland. Bob built the backbone of oak and Douglas fir. The frames are also oak and Douglas fir.
BANGOR POOL BOAT
Stephen Carpenter of Presumpscot Woodworks in Gorham, ME restored this "Bangor Pool Boat" in the winter of 2001. It is 13' long with a 52" beam. He does not know its age or place of origin, though he has some indication that it was built somewhere in Penobscot Valley.
