FISH TALES
FISH TALES was built from scratch and is substantially all mahogany. A 19 gallon gas tank is beneath the bow deck, along with an anchor hatch. The center console is mahogany and the Captain’s seat is a design borrowed from older Boston Whalers. The boat is powered by a 70 hp Yamaha outboard.
GUNKHOLER
GUNKHOLER travels the waters of San Francisco Bay and the Petaluma River. Builder John Price has been peacefully gunkholing these California waters since the launch in October 2002.
TIME OUT
Ken and Deb LaPorte recently finished building their first boat, a Melonseed skiff named TIME OUT. The design is by Marc Barto and available from The WoodenBoat Store. The hull is built from strips of sapele.
SASSAFRASS 14 CANOE
Richard Knight built this Sassafras 14 canoe from a kit designed by CLC using 4 mm okoume planks, which resulted in a finished weight of just over 42 pounds. He found the lapstitch construction to work well, the hull easily came together straight and true.
Juniper
13 year old Hannah Dumser of Davidson, North Carolina and her dad Jim finished and launched their Jericho Bay Skiff (WB No. 210, 211) named Juniper. Built out of Atlantic White Cedar and trimmed in Okoume.
ZIP
ZIP is a 1953 Alcort Sunfish, built in Waterbury, CT, the 13th Sunfish from the first pre production batch of 20 boats. Alex Bryan and Cortlandt Heyniger (ALCORT) built these boats and gave them to friends and family to see if they would like the cockpit and wider beam.
Wood Duck Hybrid
Tom Willess of Oakton, Virginia discovered Chesapeake Light Craft a few years ago and has fallen in love with building their kayaks. He has already built two 12′ Wood Duck Hybrids that are stitch-and-glue constructed from one of CLC’s kits.
LEILU
LEILU is the first Jewell class launched - Aug. 10, 2013. Conceived of by Clint Chase; drawn by Francois Vivier, NA, built by French and Webb, Belfast, ME. Hull is a CNC okoume plywood kit; glued lapstrake on plywood bulkheads; trim is mahogany, spars are sitka spruce.
