EL GATO is a 12'6" Phil Bolger designed catboat built by Ross Mason between May 2002 and October 2003. Ross launched EL GATO on November 25, 2003. He used 1/4" plywood covered with epoxy resin and fiberglass cloth. He built the hollow 16' mast from 8 staves as described in WB issue XXXX.
MARION is a Shenahdoah Whitehall skin on frame boat designed by Dave Gentry (http://gentrycustomboats.com).
This is a modified version of a T.L. Simmons 18′ sea skiff.I used marine plywood sides instead of Lapstrake. I use the boat in the 10,000 Islands and in the Atlantic. Very seaworthy and tough.
I acquired this kit from a friend on Whidbey Island, and further investigation revealed it to be a 13ft “Pandamaran” — an unusual design by famous dinghy designer Jack Holt in the 1970’s, done in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund, whereby part of the proceeds of each sale was donated to
Chesapeake Light Craft strip built hybrid by Bob Silverman (2nd time boatbuilder) - wood duck hybrid 12 with white alaskan cedar and red western cedar planks. Took me 2 months and really enjoyed the build.
The klinker-built faering (four oars) has been used for transportation for centuries along the Norwegian coast line and in the fjords. In the areas close to the Sognefjord the features of the faering is particularly well preserved compared to the vessels of the Vikings.
Esc.Key is a new solar electric river boat recently launched by Denman Marine.
The initial design brief was for a river launch that was similar in concept to the early 20th century Noosa River putt putt boats which had a hard top to keep the harsh Queensland sun at bay.
S/Y ELISE is a custom build boat to fit our customers needs. She is a replica of French boat from Victorian era, design #203 by Paul Gartside Designs. Her hull was build at the Ekami Woodenboat Building School, Hamina, Finland but due to unfortunately issues she was never completed there.
