Stu Fyfe of Brewster, Massachusetts, launchged this 54" Beach Pea Baby Cradle just about the time of the launch of his grandson, Owen James Fyfe.
Richard Knight built this Sassafras 14 canoe from a kit designed by CLC using 4 mm okoume planks, which resulted in a finished weight of just over 42 pounds. He found the lapstitch construction to work well, the hull easily came together straight and true.
Rod built this boat for his friend, Roger Hudson or Beacon Bay, South Africa, during a trip to an ecovillage in South Africa in the summer of 2002. With only a table saw, cordless drill and a few hand tools, he built TRIPLE E out of a sheet of Meranti plywood.
The boat was finished, and was trailered over to a boat shop for the installation of a 15 hp Tohatsu outboard, on February 2. I am a first time boat builder and found that building the CLC kit was a fun fall/winter project. The boat will be on Lake Couer d’ Alene the next sunny weekend.
5 new canoes hit the water in Pender Harbour last weekend as part of the 12th annual April Tools Wooden Boat Challenge. Built by students at Pender Harbour Secondary, they were raced around a course in the harbour in pursuit of fame and fortune.
This 17' Arctic Tern Kayak is Matt FitzGibbon's second boat. He built it from a kit by Pygmy Boats, Port Townsend, WA 98368. His children contributed to the building effort. He recommends the book Kayaks You Can Build by Ted Moores and back issues of WB for other would-be builders.
Michael Matheson is the proud owner of WATERWAYS, a modified Surf Scoter launch, built by Bruce Mierke and designed by Sam Devlin. WATERWAYS is 3' longer than the plans called for, and also uses a 4-stroke outboard rather than the stern drive indicated by designer Sam Devlin.
