Rod Wright’s version of the Barto 16′ melonseed (WB plan#120). She’s built of spanish cedar, sipo, ash and white oak; and sports a sail sewn 13from a Sailrite kit.
The Drift Boat was built from dimensions and plans in Roger Fletcher’s Book, Drift Boats and River Dories. Its design is by Woody Hindman in the 1930’s, a Double Ender with Transom.The hull’s sides are made from Cedar Strips as (normal construction is from Marine Plywood).
Rob Caveney launched this glued-lapstrake plywood Annapolis Tandem Wherry in April this year following plans from Chesapeake Light Craft. The hull is 18′9″ long, Rob reports that,“As advertised, this boat is a real rocketship.
TWINKLE (yup, that’s her name) was conceived on April 15, 2017 and launched on July 30. Her home is Rocky Mount, NC. She is a Chesapeake 17 sea kayak from Chesapeake Light Craft. Made of Okoume marine plywood, epoxy, fiberglass, varnish and more than a little blood and sweat.
Sven Östenson of Oxelösund, Sweden, bought this ocean racing yacht for about US$700 when he found it lying derelict in a local boat yard. He writes the boat, a Lage Eklund design, has a rounded turtle-deck, which leaked and caused a great deal of rot.
“Re-launching” under a new green-and-white sail, Rooster Class sailboat #715, SARAH (built in 1982) glides along on Lake Thunderbird, Oklahoma as part of the “Summer Sailstice”.
A 1952 8-metre built by Anker & Jensen (number 480) in Vollen near Oslo, Norway was relaunched after a lengthy restoration by Tiffany Yachts on the Great Wicomico River, Chesapeake Bay, Virginia on June 29th.
