In June 2011 Paul Kueffner launched a cedar-strip kayak that he built for his wife from plans by John Winters. The Caspian Sea design is 15′6″ long, andabout 50 pounds with gear. He built the hull from 1/4″ western red cedar strips, covered with epoxy and 8 oz fiberglass cloth.
These two boats were built at Boston Family Boat Building by 5th graders from the Boston Public Schools during the 2011/12 school year. We relaunched them on April 10 for the Boston Tea Party Ship Museum. They will use them as work boats to maintain the ships at the museum.

SEAMONKEY is a 15'6" Bolger-designed catboat, that Robert Parish modified for a Chinese junk rig. He lives in Bozeman, MT and launched SEAMONKEY in 40-knot gusts on Canyon Ferry Reservoir in August 2004.
Merv Shaw bought the plans for this Weekender Pocket Yacht more than 25 years ago. He started building the boat 10 years ago, and finally finished in late 2010. SPIRIT OF BIG ISLAND is 19′6″ gaff-rigged sloop designed by Stevenson Projects.
