Jim Maas can fit his Sabotina dinghy into his minivan. Jim launched the 7′10″ Ken Hankinson design last July. He rows it on the lakes of eastern Pennsylvania. The hull is stitch-and-glue, built from okoume plywood. Jim took these pictures at Beltzville Dam.
I started this boat by buying a load of rough cut northern white cedar from a small family run sawmill in Danville Vt.
One off design. 3/8" AC ply lapstrake hull, copper rivets/ rove, reverse stem.
Chuck Nagy of Burn Pile Restorations rescued a 50-year-old Wolverine, model no. 2, made by Wagemaker Boats of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He turned a derelict hull with no transom or seats, and a five-foot crack down one side, into this beautiful fishing skiff.
Community School of Davidson is at it again, this time launching a Dave Gentry designed “Wee Lassie” built by 6th and 7th grade students at their middle school. Instructor Jim Dumser built it with eight students from the Friday “explore elective” over the fall and winter.
Anita Repp has a new 15' skiff, PENELOPE, built by her husband Doug, for fishing and picnicking. Doug made PENELOPE with plywood planking on pine frames, and he use fir for the keel and chines. The hull is covered in epoxy and fiberglass cloth.
