The Welsford Navigator, Puffin, was launched on June 5, 2016. This is my first scratch built boat. Okume plywood was used throughout with white oak and Brazilian cherry for the various and sundry bits.

The Welsford Navigator, Puffin, was launched on June 5, 2016. This is my first scratch built boat. Okume plywood was used throughout with white oak and Brazilian cherry for the various and sundry bits.
This is a kit-built stitch and glue kayak from the friendly folks at Chesapeake Light Craft, Annapolis, MD. The hull is constructed of okoume marine plywood. I elected to tackle the hybrid version which incorporates the tri-color cedar strip deck.
This is my CLC Shearwater Sport Hybrid. Believe it or not this is the first thing that I have ever built from wood. It took me a little over 2 years to build. Built in an unheated building and working with epoxy in Buffalo gives you less that 6 months to work per year.
Donal O'Callaghan writes that his boat is "one of those boats that whenever you row it, you should allow a few minutes to answer questions, because people are attracted to it like a magnet." He built this sleek beauty from plans by Graeme King of Putney, Vermont.
Tom Fulton built this Chesapeake Light Craft 17 kayak from a kit. CRISPO is 17′ long with a 2′ beam. This was Tom's first build. He launched her on April 11, 2011 on Prospertown Lake in Cream Ridge, NJ, and will use her as a sea kayak along the Jersey shore.
James McGorry of Aurora, Colorado, built this 17′ LOA kayak relying on information from Nick Schade’s two articles on building the 10′ Nymph kayak that appeared in WB 199 and 200. He made the hull and outer rail from basswood, and the stems, seat, backrest, and inner rail from mahogany.
Connie Nelson sent in a report of the construction of the canoe LOUISE. In 1998, her husband Earl was forced into retirement for health reasons and needed a project.
WEighing about 200 pounds, this sharpie started life at the WoodenBoat school under the tutelage of John Harris., the designer. Bill Moser attended that class and was lucky enough to win the opportunity to take the partially completed boat home to Florida.

A 1952 8-metre built by Anker & Jensen (number 480) in Vollen near Oslo, Norway was relaunched after a lengthy restoration by Tiffany Yachts on the Great Wicomico River, Chesapeake Bay, Virginia on June 29th.
