Robert Fraser used the designs of older C-4s to create this class boat. A C-4 class boat for Canada cannot be more than 20' long (6.1 meters), must have a minimum beam of 2'6" (76 cm), and weigh at least 68.34 pounds (31kg).
An 18′ Lug rigged yawl build which took nearly 1500 hours over 4 1/2 years. The hull is strip planked with Western Red Cedar. Structural parts and interior furniture are Philippine Mahogany. Spars are Sitka Spruce.
The boat was finished, and was trailered over to a boat shop for the installation of a 15 hp Tohatsu outboard, on February 2. I am a first time boat builder and found that building the CLC kit was a fun fall/winter project. The boat will be on Lake Couer d’ Alene the next sunny weekend.
VERONIQUE is a 14′ Dacron skin-on-frame canoe based on the Geodesic Aerolite Arrow 14 design. Built and owned by Carl Frey. Ribs are steamed red oak. Stringers and inwales are laminated Douglas fir.
Built from 1/4" strips of red and yellow cedar, David Samuelsson's Cosine Wherry looks quite pretty on a beach in British Columbia. David referred to the book "Rip, Strip, and Row" by J. D. Brown in his construction of this boat.
Intended to get me out to where the fish were after spending an afternoon not catching anything from shore, but watching a fellow land one after another just beyond casting distance in the middle of the pond.Based off Andrew Waters’ “Trixie”, Richly Joined is the first boat I’ve ever built.
Dave Nelson took three years to build this Cosine Wherry designed by John Hartsock. He stretched the boat out a foot and a half, but kept the 52" the same as called for by Hartsock. Dave also modified the stem and transom shapes and modified the thwarts.
