Lecture: Traditional Boats for the Open Sea on Denmark’s West Coast

Join speaker Simon Larsen from 6 to 7 p.m. as he takes us on a tour of “Viking boats” used for commercial fishing in Denmark. Through footage he took at Thorupstrand and Slettestrand, he will share his experiences with building and repairing boats for the beach.

Simon Larsen completed an apprenticeship at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, Denmark, in 2007 and has been working as a boatbuilder since. Born in Århus, Denmark, he has been living in the US since 2009, with the exception of a one and a half year stint back in Denmark. He lives with his family in Lincolnville, Maine.

The Apprenticeshop’s 2019-2020 Lecture Series is open to the public with a suggested donation of $10.
