Gig Harbor BoatShop’s Greenland Paddle Workshop at the historic Eddon Boatyard

Make your own Greenland paddle with guidance from experienced builders using only hand tools. With narrower and longer blades than the modern European-style paddle, many kayakers find Greenland paddles to be easier on the body and shoulders. First used thousands of years ago by Inuit hunters, the paddle’s sleek design is influenced by the materials available to the early users in Arctic North America – generally driftwood. They are often used as spare paddles strapped to a kayak. Experience the difference for yourself! Sunday, June 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. $150 for members, $175 for non-members. Call (253) 857-9344 or email info@gigharborboatshop.org to register, or visit www.gigharborboatshop.org for more information. Register by June 10. An additional session will be offered in August.
