Rozinante Herreshoff design 1969 build by Paul E. Luke of Boothbay, Maine
A canoe yawl made of native cedar planking over oak frames maintained by Paul and Nat Bryant of Riverside Boat Company in Newcastle, Me. since 2013, and current location.
The bottom of her ballast keel was cut off to reduce draft by a former owner; but was ballasted, maintaining original keel weight, port and starboard at keel bottom (image). This Rozinante therefore draws 6” less than her design at build of 3.75 ft. Beam 6.3 ft., displacement 6650 lbs.
Sails (4): mainsail, jib, mizzen sail, spinnaker. Like new Sunbrella custom berth and cockpit cushions (3), lines, winch handle, sail covers, sail bags, a porta-potty, Danforth anchor. Spars are in very good condition.
Hull work in 2022 by Nat Bryant available in .pdf format consisted of separating the ballast from the hull, fairing the ballast top and keel bottom, and re-joining them. A few planks were splined and replaced to tighten up plank seams. The bottom was reefed and caulked. In the deadwood, large checks were routed out and had graving pieces glued in to further stop water infiltration.
Asking US $27,000. Sails briskly in light wind and in 15 knots like a 40’ boat . A comfortable and elegant coastal cruising vessel. Sleeps two. Needs bottom and topsides paint otherwise ready to sail.
