Launchings

Jerry Sweeney built this 16' cedar strip canoe ABENAKI with plans by David Hazen. It was built from scratch starting with two 18' 1 x 6 rough sawn cedar planks. It will be used in the Yakima and Columbia Rivers near Kennewick, WA.

Art Ross writes "Thompson Bros. of Peshtigo, WI, built this TVT Hi-Speed Fish Boat in 1954. She spent the last 30 years residing in an Amish barn. She is 14' LOD, has a 55" beam, and goes real fast with a 1967 Mercury 350.

Reuel Kaighn named this 34' full keel sloop after his father-in-law, John Lord, a naval architect and marine engineer. JL is a James B. DeWitt one-design, built by him in 1950 in Oakland, CA. She spent nearly ten years in storage, before being restored at Shotwell Boatyard, in Nescopeck, PA.

Barry Lewis built this 7'10" D4 dinghy using plans from Mertens-Goossens of Vero Beach, FL. He made a few minor modifications including a handle at the bow, and a wheel at the stern, which is protected by the keel.

Chris DeFirmian is a woodworker in Santa Barbara, CA who uses his dinghy LARK to transport himself and his tools to jobs about the harbor. LARK is equipped with a center-lifting hatch to keep his tools dry.

Scotland Island, on Pittwater, a large body of water about 30 miles north of Sydney, Australia, is the home port of this 20' Oxford rowing shell designed by Chesapeake Light Craft.

Walter graduated from Westlawn Institute and now has his own business designing yachts now. He launched this boat in July of 2005 and it is used as a yacht tender. He writes, "She can carry 3 adults comfortably in protected waters.

Carl Sylvester built this 15′3″ Gloucester Gull dory as an economy boat using fir marine plywood on pine frames. He fiberglassed bottom of the hull designed by Phil Bolger and Dynamite Payson.

Dr, Stephan Scott spent 8 months worth of weekends building PAULYNE, and Harry Bryan Daisy design. PAULYNE is a 12'6" dory/skiff with a beam of 4'2". He launched PAULYNE on May 31, 2003. Stephan plans to use her in Pirates Cove, Alabama and on Arnica Bay located on the ICW.
