15′ skiff DIABLO by Phil Bolger and taken from a Dynamite Payson book. I enjoyed this project. It was my first boat build. I tested with the outboard shown but will probably remove it. I modified the rear seat with a center seat, and added a bow seat. I took it out in San Diego bay.
Alan Powell uses this 9' skiff for fishing and exploring the Berowra Waters on the Hawkesbury River, north of Sydney, Australia. She is a Karl Stambaugh "Weekend Skiff 3" design that appears in the book Good Skiffs.
Doyle Herman started restoration of this 15' Wagemaker in September of 2001. He launched it in May 2002. He stripped the boat to a bare hull, replaced the deck plywood and part of the transom. Wolverine Boats of Grand Rapids, MI built the boat in 1957.
In June 2011 Paul Kueffner launched a cedar-strip kayak that he built for his wife from plans by John Winters. The Caspian Sea design is 15′6″ long, andabout 50 pounds with gear. He built the hull from 1/4″ western red cedar strips, covered with epoxy and 8 oz fiberglass cloth.
CLC Kaholo 12-6 built from plans setup both for distance paddling and surfing. The tail-block is a combination of purple heart and ipe.
Father and son, Roy Davis Sr. and Roy Davis Jr., built this 15'10" lapstrake, flat-bottom skiff THE LONG POINT over about 15 months, from June 1999 to September 2000. Thomas J. Hill, of Burlington, MA is the designer. They power it with a 30-hp Mercury outboard.
Paul Day of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, built this folding schooner, Phil Bolger design 268. WALTZING MATILDA is 31 feet long and 5 feet long. Paul reports she planes through the water at a 'scorching speed'. He and his wife launched her on a lake near their home.
I helped my friend Glenn Strombo build this Adirondack Guide Boat to the plans found in “Building an Adirondack Guide Boat” by Michael J. Olivette and John D Michne.We shortened the length by 16 inches to utilize more readily available 16 foot cedar planking stock.
Adam Birtwistle of Swan River in Perth, Australia, recently finished building a Melanesia Outrigger sailing canoe, designed by James Wharram. He spent a year on the contruction.
