Jerry Hamilton launched SONG, a Bay Skiff 15 designed by Karl Stambaugh at Eagle Nest Lake near Angel Fire, New Mexico on September 4, 2010.

In 2014 and 2015 Nanette Jockin and Jan Sepp built “Houtje”, a Wabnaki canoe in their summer cottage in Loosdrecht, the Netherlands.

I acquired this kit from a friend on Whidbey Island, and further investigation revealed it to be a 13ft “Pandamaran” — an unusual design by famous dinghy designer Jack Holt in the 1970’s, done in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund, whereby part of the proceeds of each sale was donated to

Cedar strip canoe

TUBBY TUG (9' LOA) was launched in August 2001 on the St. John River in Belleisle Bay, New Brunswick. Glen-L Boats of Bellflower, CA designed her, and Tom Wetzel of Grand Manan built her using the stitch-and-glue method. TUBBY TUG is owned by 5-year-old Dylan MacKenzie of Hampton, New Brunswick.

FOUR WHEELS is owned by four Wheelers - Peter, Anne, Katie, and Allison. It is a 1959 Lynman Outboard that had been sitting in a barn for 30 years before Peter rescued it. He took it completely apart, stripped everything, and was able to reuse all of the original pieces except the horn.

Bruce Lemon designed this 17' Aleutian Baidarka skin-on-frame kayak, built by Charles Hall of Salt Lake City, UT. He made the frames from bent oak lashed to Douglas fir stringers. The skin is a synthetic canvas sewn together on top and around the canvas coaming. He used no glue or screws.

Mike Yates of Bainbridge Island, Washington designed & built this recreational/open-water shell. Loosely based on Graeme King’s immortal Kingfisher, it is strip-built with 1/8″ Western Red Cedar & Alaskan Yellow Cedar, covered with 2-oz fiberglass.

Bruce Porter bought the plans for this Simmons Sea Skiff from the Cape Fear Museum in North Carolina. He used marine mahogany plywood over white cedar frames, and added gunwales made of white ash and Douglas-fir.
