Launchings

This project was envisioned years before it arrived at Joest Boats. As a six year old boy, during his first ride aboard a vessel just like her, the dream began.

Though it was his first attempt at boatbuilding, Herschel Payne took just 4 months to build this 16′ Stevenson Weekender, SEA RABBIT. He built it from common lumber materials and regular hardware fittings, spending just $1500 for the boat.

Martin Herbert built ZOCCOLO, an International One-Metre design, to race in regattas up and down Canada’s west coast. He launched her on January 20, 2017. She is one metre (39″) long, 16cm (6″) wide, and draws 42cm (17″).

Today (7-26-20) is the day after many hours and years of life, that I get to finally launch my new canoe.It is a 13′ 7″ MACGREGOR canoe designed by Iain Oughtred.

Markus and Angie Puskarich of Key West. FL launched this Bolger/Payson designed 18' Clam Skiff on Dec 9, 2001. They say the design is great for fishing and exploring in the Florida Keys.

Aaron Turner led a group of students and volunteers at Workshop Residence in San Francisco, California, in the construction of a Coquina cat-ketch.

John and Barbara Strattan built these kayaks in 2003. They are Mill Creek 13 kayaks, designed by Chris Kulczyki of CLC. They use the pair on the streams and rivers of north central Kentucky.

Geoff and Jean Lee wanted a boat that they could row and sail with equal ease in the open waters of Biscayne Bay, Florida. They found the design for this 18' William Chamberlain Gunning Dory in John Gardner's book The Dory Book.

Philip Rhodes designed the Penguin Class dinghy in 1939. Fred Kaiser of Clinton, NY, built this particular Penguin (#7990) from a kit in 1966 for his daughters to use. Richard Ellers of Warren, OH, restored the dinghy and re-launched her in the summer of 2003.
