Launchings

Designed by Jesse Lowell (207-504-3311), sixth generation boat builder and designer (great grandson of William Frost). Mischief was built by Jesse Lowell and owner, Captain Joanna Lavan.

David Jarrett rescued this boat and spent one year restoring it, before launching it in July 2002. It had been in storage for years, and had numerous layers of paint and varnish to be removed. He refinished the hull and replaced the seats and floors.

Tandem Kayak

Jeff Ennis and his four sons built this birchbark canoe (16' x 36") in the summer of 2004 in Lac St. Marie, Canada. They used birch bark, green cedar, and spruce root in the construction. The green wood can be easily split into almost paper-thin sheets for making the floorboards.

David Calloway wrote that a couple of years ago, he was infected with the boatbuilding bug.  He spent many enjoyable hours looking for boats to build on the internet before he decided on Jim Michalak's QT design.

My boat is a “couch boat” which is the only description I could think of since I designed it for comfortable seating and aesthetic Italian curvy lines.

I built my John Welsford designed Houdini cat yawl in my garage. It took almost five years. The boat is constructed of okoume marine plywood, douglas fir and mahogany. The multi-chine hull was built with sawn plywood frames and douglas fir stringers.

Sixteen year old Hannah Dumser is at it again. She and her dad just completed a 12′6″ Kaholo paddleboard kit from Chesapeake Light Craft.

I had built some plywood boats before but after two weeks at the WoodenBoat School in August 2017 it was time for a more ambitious project. I begun building in October 2017 and finished LILY an year later.
