Gloucester Gull Dory
Carl Sylvester built this 15′3″ Gloucester Gull dory as an economy boat using fir marine plywood on pine frames. He fiberglassed bottom of the hull designed by Phil Bolger and Dynamite Payson.
MINNIE THE MOOCHER
Chris Bell lives on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia, where he enjoys sailing in MINNIE THE MOOCHER, a 14′11″ canoe yawl. MINNIE is a Lillie design by Paul Fisher that is similar to his Ethel canoe yawl design and to boats that Lord Robert Baden-Powell built for the Boy Scouts.
COMMANDER PAPA
Re-launching COMMANDER PAPA after restoration and for the first annual “Rooster Week”, celebrating these sailboats from Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island.This Rooster is now owned by Marianne Stern-Smith, granddaughter of the designer.
BOING
Doug Robertson named this canoe BOING for the noise it will make if all the strips come apart. It is a modified Bear Mountain Rob Roy Canoe. The 13' design was shortened to 11' 6". It weighs 26 pounds. Doug used cedar bead and cove strips covered on the outside with 5 oz fiberglass.
Freedom 15- glued lapstrake
Built of 4mm okume ply with ash thwarts breasthooks and trim. Lightly Glassed inside and out, Heavily glassed on the bottom. Adapted from the freedom 15 design from Bear Mountain Boats.
Built using west system epoxy and Epifanes finish. A really fun boat to paddle for sure.
SIMPLY MAGIC
The year 2002 was a busy year for Mitchell Skinner. He built three wooden boats. The smallest is an 8' sprit-rigged catboat SIMPLY MAGIC, that he designed for his wife to use with her dog, Magic. Since this photo was taken, a larger sail has been added.

William Leake likes the look of strip-built canoes but his wife prefers the look of lapstrake canoes. He thought a hybrid model—strip-planked on the bottom half and lapstrake above that—might be the solution to both of them getting what they want.
