Having built many mono hull boats thought it time to try a catamaran as they say 2 is better than one.
Joanie is a David Payne 17′ snapper boat design built by Denman Marine in Tasmania.She is built from full length book matched huon pine planking on celery top pine ribs and backbone. She has a lovely curved Tasmanian blackwood coaming and sprung teak decks and sole.
February 11th 2017, we launched RoG in Lake Tarpon, Florida. She went on to compete successfully in the Everglades Challenge 2017, a RAID class event between Tampa and Key Largo FL, where she was one of only 2 boats to complete the event out of 9 entries in Sailing/Solo class.
Pease Boat Works in Chatham, Massachusetts, recently designed and launched this 17′6″ × 5′7″ center-console Mill Pond skiff. The hull is built from marine plywood, fir, and angelique, covered with a layer of fiberglass and epoxy.
MISTY is a 19'6" gentleman's runabout, designed and built by Tony Beeftink over the course of two years. Tony spent a lot of time studying classic runabouts as he was designing her, attending boat shows and reading WoodenBoat.
Participants in the spring boatbuilding class at The Dory Shop in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, celebrate the launch of the as-yet-unnamed Banks dory they built under the tutelage of master dory builder Jay Langford May 7-18.
Andy Rockwood launched this John Gardner Surf Dory on June 24, 2001. He built the boat for Stuart Walker of North Muskegon, MI, who plans to use the boat on the Great Lakes. Andy built the boat using traditional methods with white pine planking on white oak frames.
Just in time for the winter sailing season; Carpinteria Dory Company (http://www.carpdory.com) recently completed this Maine Peapod designed by Arch Davis (http://www.archdavisedesigns.com).
Dave Nelson took three years to build this Cosine Wherry designed by John Hartsock. He stretched the boat out a foot and a half, but kept the 52" the same as called for by Hartsock. Dave also modified the stem and transom shapes and modified the thwarts.
Builder Byron Marks writes that this canoe, launched Sept 3, 2002, roughly follows the lines of the Freedom 17 designed by Steve Killing (found in "Canoecraft" by Ted Moores). For the hull, he used white cedar with walnut accents.
