For Christmas 2001, Tom Koenig's wife gave him Dynamite Payson's plans for Teal, a Phil Bolger-designed double-ended sailing skiff, 12' long and 3'6" beam. He spent the winter building the boat. For her launching in July 2002, he drove five hours from his house to Pamlico Sound, NC.
I found the plans in the back of “The Dory Book”, by John Gardner after looking high and low for a boat I thought I could build. This boat fit the bill. Besides requiring only average skills to build, it is also light, pretty, rowable, seaworthy and cheap to operate.
Built at our winter home in Belize from local woods: Honduras mahogany for frames, stringers, etc; Spanish cedar for the planks.
I recently launched my build of a Candu Junior mini tugboat designed by Berkeley Eastman.
The Candu Junior is 11 feet loa. This build is powered by a Honda 20 hp outboard and gets on a plane at about 18 mph. The motor is mounted in a motor well/ tunnel inboard.

We have five grandchildren from 14 years down to 7 years so I built a (wee lassie) for each one and had them lettered from a local clasic car sword striper artist (Dr Ru,) they call him around the Detroit area.Took a few years to complete them all.
Six youths in GreenFleet’s after-school boatbuilding program launched two Bevin’s skiffs in April 2011. They modified them from the original Joe Youcha design by raising the freeboard 1″. The boats will be used in GreenFleet’s summer environmental education and stewardship program.
Relaunch of a 1958 Thompson Sea Skiff. This is the smallest lap strake boat made by Thompson in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. All ribs, keel, gunnel, spray rails, and decking were replaced.
