SPROUT
Chris Greer reports that he built SPROUT part-time over the course of two years from Arch Davis's plans for the Penobscot 14 dinghy.
Sid Skiff
Over 40 years ago, boatbuilder Ray Speck drew the lines for the Sid skiff. He was living in Sausalito, California, at the time and admired JAYNE, a skiff owned by the harbormaster, Sid Foster.
Penobscot 14
Serge Larocque launched his Penobscot 14 earlier this year in July after spending 18 months building it. He chose a lug rig for its ease of use with no standing rigging to deal with. Serge reports that it’s a fun and responsive boat.
Pulling Boat, Liz
Built at The Nautical Arts Workshop. Quarter inch Okoume plywood was used for the lapstrake planking. The transom, gunwale and seats are made of cherry. The paint is from George Kirby.
Shearwater
I have had these Bolger plans for Diablo for 15 yrs. Originally I wanted to build it at the vocational high school where I was principal but that never happened. Then I wanted to build it in Biloxi, Ms while I was working there in 2009-20010.
Eaglewind
Rich Parlee in Ucluelet BC built this power canoe to resemble the Nu Cha Nulth whaling canoes of the Native peoples of West Coast Vancouver Island. She was built “out of my head,” says the builder, out of five-eighth red Cedar strips.
TUGGER
I recently launched my build of a Candu Junior mini tugboat designed by Berkeley Eastman.
The Candu Junior is 11 feet loa. This build is powered by a Honda 20 hp outboard and gets on a plane at about 18 mph. The motor is mounted in a motor well/ tunnel inboard.
WHITE WATER CANOE
Jason Perkins teaches a boatbuilding class at Kingswood High School in Wolfeboro, NH and built this 16' E.M. White-designed White Water canoe with his class.
TT Mediator
My son and I built this CLC stitch and glue Eastport Pram to serve as our dinghy for our Passport sailboat. We wanted something that was light weight, easy to use, and not a typical inflatable.
