D'ANNA is a 30' cold-molded evolution of the 29' Beals Island lobster boat, DIANA

In the winter of 2012 a very good friend leant me an old copy of Nautical Quarterly. An article about Catboats caught my attention — I was and still am taken by their beautiful lines.I decided to design one with the aim of building it in the summer.

The Tolman Skiff has a Dory heritage with a “V” bottom and was designed to handle the inland and open waters of Alaska and is a very capable ocean skiff.

A stable (28 1/2″ beam) strip-built touring kayak.

Planked up with 1/4″ cedar strips.

Construction: Strip planked.

Lofting is required.

Plans include 4 sheets.

This 17' x 20" [5.2m x49cm] strip planked kayak is designed for comfort and speed in rough water. With a lot of capacity for gear, it can be used as an efficient expedition vessel while being fast, quick and fun as a day tripper. It will excel at downwind runs.
