Mia was the second design that I published, a 12′ runabout, inspired in part by William Jackson's 1955 design for the “Ace” which was produced by the Sande Boat Works between 1956 and 1962 (www.sandeace.com), and in part by the 1950’s designs of Hal Kelly.Mia

We designed KIS dinghies in order to meet a very practical need of amateur boatbuilders.

The recent America’s Cup has proven what is the potential of fast acceleration with a trimaran hull “piercing bow,” that is designed to penetrate the wave and not to float on the waves. Beyond the result the difference in behavior between Oracle and Alinghi was bright watching the races.

The Multi 5 is a multihull with a simple construction and good performance. The construction is extremely simplified by the drift absence. The good hulls volume allows to spend pleasant days and moving along the coasts with other friends, having the opportunity to carry up to four people.

Good speed and sea keeping ability with low impact & noise. 50hp outboard or inboard diesel.

The boat is nice to row - a good combination of tippy enough for an intermediate, yet after a few days a novice will get the hang of it.
