Thank you for considering my plans for BOWLER, a “cruising” version of my TOP HAT launch. These boats are descended from Harry Bryan’s inspired Handy Billy design, which in turn can trace it’s origins back to William Hand's vee bottom designs from the early 20th century.

Good speed and sea keeping ability with low impact & noise. 50hp outboard or inboard diesel.

Redwing- a gentle, shoal-draft, low-powered
(5 to 10-hp), sheet-plywood outboard cruiser - can live on her trailer.

Whenever you wish, she'll be ready to go exploring.

V-bottomed seaworthy pocket daysailer/cruiser designed for plywood construction...

A practical and stable 8' (2.4m) pram dinghy suitable for up to 3 adults.
Ideal for fishing or as a tender for larger boats.

Based on traditional crabbing skiff documentation by Howard Chapelle, this has proven to be a fast and stable boat that can carry a real load.

Construction: Glued lapstrake plywood. Alternative construction: Traditional plank, cold-molded and strip planked. No Lofting required. Sail Area : 30 sq. ft. Plan includes 6 sheets.

My client wanted to circumnavigate, Cape Horn and all!  He wished to build the boat himself and had limited skills in boatbuilding, limits on his budget, and a space about the size of a double garage.

Auxiliary cruising sloop evolving from the Hudson River and Friendship sloops.

Excellent for single handling with 450 sq. ft. of working sails, open decks and large cockpit.
