“Pinocchio” was commissioned by my 7 year old son who wanted to learn paddling. He saw these kids paddling in small plastic kayaks which looked more like “bricks” or “barges” rather than boats.

My first boat building Project (not counting a couple of door-skin surfboards) was a Bolger Yellow Leaf pirogue, built from drawings in Bolger’s “Small Boats”.
Designed with extended wilderness paddlers in mind, her easy handling, good stability and low weight (only 60 lbs) make the Taiga an excellent choice for weekend and day excursions as well.
