‘Volare’ comes in two versions. This is the console version, the utility version is available as a separate set of plans. They’re both 15′4″ long and 5′ wide.Her length is that of two sheets of 8′ plywood and she’s built in two halves (bow end and stern end).

Based on Tom Gillmer and Iver Franzen’s New Moon (an enlargement on Gillmer’s Blue Moon), this sailing vessel is intended to be a stout, seaworthy, offshore-capable passagemaker, with an emphasis on the balance between comfortable sea-keeping and good sailing abilities.

Lapstrake-plywood daysailer with a shapely wineglass transom, unstayed sprit rig, and wide, flat, keels for easy trailering.

Construction: Lapstrake plywood planking over steam-bent frames.

Alternative construction: Cold-molded or strip.

No lofting is required.

With an overall length of 27 feet this lovely cruiser accommodates up to four passengers comfortably. Room in the head for bunks and a working galley. Great live in boat as well as a weekend cruiser depending on your own personal adventure needs!
