John Brooks and Ruth Hill and their four children at Brooks Boats Designs designed and built a new plywood kit boat last summer. The DragonFlyer design is meant to be a trainer for beginning sailors and then grow with their skills, offering lively sailing as their own skills are developed.

When Andy Bradbury started building the Cartopper dinghy on his patio, he promised his wife it would only take a couple of months for him to finish. Just short of two years after that, he finally launched the 11′ 6″ WREN in his home waters of the Pamilico River Washington, North Carolina.

DON GATO

Wayne Brown spent two years building this 12′6″ catboat designed by William Garden. DON GATO is a strip-planked Tom Cat design launched at Ghost Lake, Wisconsin last July. Wayne says she sails nicely with three people aboard, trails beautifully, and takes about an hour to rig and unrig.

I built this Catspaw Dinghy starting in 1981 in Los Angeles, California and completed it in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1995. I recently refurbished it in 2013, by recaulking and repainting the hull and repairing a broken plank with a butt block.
