Launchings

Kevin Moroney of Cape Coral, Florida, was building an 18′ modified sharpie skiff when his grandson, Colin, was born in Denver, Colorado, last year.

Jackie Lih, age 7, helped her father, Arthur, to build this 8′ Grace's Tender from a kit by Arch Davis. They made the hull from 4mm okoume plywood on white pine frames.

I built Huntington Harbor from free plans from Spira International. It was lots of fun and paddles great, looking forward to the next build.

I was having difficulty getting out of my SOT kayak and needed a small skiff to row around the lake near my house. I wanted something I could put in the back of my S10 pickup, so I chose the Hannu 10 1/2 foot skiff.

David had attended a traditional boatbuilding course at Mystic Seaport, and there became smitten with Swampscott dories.

Thomas Mayenburg built this 12' 8" car-top Modified McInnis Bateau with his brother and a friend. The design is from John Gardner's Building Classic Small Craft, Vol. 2. They used 3/8" plywood on the bottom, and 3/8" red cedar strakes.

Mark Knee sent in this picture of the boat his father Daniel built. It is a Standard Fly Drift Boat which Daniel and Mark use for fishing trips on the Pere Marquette River and the Big Manistee River, trying their luck at trout, steelhead, and salmon fishing.
